Government has approved the United Kingdom's largest power-producing solar farm to date. The site will also be home to a battery storage facility.
However, the project, which will be around 4,000 acres, is getting immense pushback from the local community.
The Springwell solar farm will be located between Lincoln and Sleaford, and is projected to start producing electricity in 2029. The government vows that the project bring energy prices down, with the farm projected to power 180,000 homes.

Supporters of the project cite the fact that solar is the cheapest and most efficient form of power in the world. Additionally, the war in Iran has sent oil and gas prices skyrocketing, raising loads of energy concerns.
Local residents, on the other hand, claim that the project will destroy farmland and landscape that fuels important tourism. Locals are also concerned about the safety of the lithium-ion batteries.
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero gave developer EDF the go ahead on the 8th of April.
